Where Are the Points Actually Going?
Whether your child is sitting the SAT for the first time or has taken it twice and landed on the same score, the gap between where they are and where they want to be is rarely about not knowing the material. It is that nobody has looked closely at which mistakes are costing the points.
At Sightline, we work one-on-one with each student and keep a record of every question they attempt — what it tested, how long it took, and how confident they were. The study plan grows out of that record. Sessions are online, on evenings and weekends, and the first two hours are free.

We start with a short call — what is going on, when the test is, and anything you want to ask, including what it costs. If it sounds like a fit, your child sits one full official practice test in Bluebook: timed, at home, in one sitting. It is free from College Board and takes a little over two hours. Two Free Sessions
Two full hours, with no card and no deposit, spent on what that test actually showed. This is what separates them from a consultation: nobody has to spend the first hour working out where your child stands, because we already know. If it is not the right fit, there is no obligation to continue, and most families know by the end of the second hour.

Varun taught the SAT for the first time in 2019, the year he took it. He and someone he met on an SAT forum ran free classes for other students on that forum until they graduated. Their own parents had paid for books and classes; most of the people asking questions there did not have that, and the gap between those two groups was never about ability.
He came back to it in 2022, teaching for a tutoring firm in Massachusetts. In the autumn of 2024, a friend asked him to help a younger sister as a favour, and running one student start to finish — his diagnostic, his plan, his notes — is what made him want to build this himself. Every student since has come from someone telling someone else.
Most students read choice A, then B, and by C they are already defending A. They are not picking between four answers, they are looking for permission to keep the first one. A lot of what I teach is not content. It is catching that before it decides the answer for you.
FAQ
How does pricing work?
Tutoring is sold in packages rather than by the hour. Most families start with a ten-hour package, paid half at the start and half halfway through. There is a shorter four-hour crash course for anyone close to a test date, and reduced rates for small groups of two to four students. There are no registration, materials or card fees, and no contract. Email us and we will send the current figures — or ask during the free sessions, when you will know what your child actually needs.
Are the first sessions really free?
Yes. After a short call, your child sits a full official practice test at home in their own time, and then we spend two full one-hour sessions on what it showed. No card and no deposit for any of it. If you decide it is not the right fit, you tell us and that is the end of it.
Who actually teaches the sessions?
Your child gets one tutor and keeps that tutor. No assistants, no rotating roster, and nobody they have not already met — the person who teaches the two free sessions is the person who teaches every week after. Right now that is Varun for every student, and anyone who joins will be on this page with their name and face before they teach anybody.
Do you guarantee a score increase?
No. We have only been tracking results formally since this year, and we would rather not advertise an average score gain we cannot properly back up yet. During the free sessions we can show you the real charts for current students, so you can see what progress has actually looked like.
What does my child need for the free practice test?
A laptop or tablet with Bluebook installed, which is free from College Board, and about two and a quarter hours in one sitting. No printing, no proctor, and no cost. We will send the instructions and tell you which form to take, so nobody has to work out which of them is the right one.
Where are you located?
We are based in Ohio and teach students across the country — currently in Minnesota, Massachusetts and Texas. Sessions run on Google Meet, so your time zone is the only thing we need to work around and nobody has to drive.
When do sessions happen?
Evenings and weekends, mostly. Most students do two to three hours a week, split however suits them — and if there is a long run-up to the test date, an hour a week can be enough. We build the schedule around school, sport and everything else on the calendar rather than the other way around.
Is this the digital SAT?
Yes. The adaptive two-module format in Bluebook, including how to use Desmos on the math sections. It is the only version of the test we teach.

Official College Board forms for anything we score. Third-party tests are scored on curves that can be off by 50 to 200 points, so a single score from one does not tell you much. We do use third-party questions, but for topic drills rather than for measuring where a student is.
What is the tracking you keep mentioning?
Your child gets a login. Every question they attempt is recorded along with what it tested, how long it took and whether they felt sure, and that builds up into an error log, a mastery grid and a progress chart. Session recordings and written summaries live in the same place. You get a parent view of all of it, so you are looking at the same information we plan the sessions from.
What if we need to reschedule?
Give us 24 hours notice and we will move the session at no charge. Inside 24 hours, it comes out of the package.
How soon will we see something?
You get written updates through the package — the trajectory so far, what has improved and what has not — and you can see the tracking yourself any time in the parent view. Whether the score itself has moved depends on where your child started, how close the test date is, and how much of the homework gets done.
